Donor Challenge: BOOST YOUR SCHOOL!!!

To encourage parent participation in its 2006-2007 Fostering Excellence in Education campaign, this year the ESEF will introduce a District-wide giving challenge known as "BOOST YOUR SCHOOL!!"

Committed Volunteer Retires

Long time El Segundo resident Kirk Howell, who recently moved his home and accounting practice to Orange County, has stepped down from his position as Chief Financial Officer for the El Segundo Educational Foundation.

Howell joined ESEF’s Board of Directors in the early 1990s, first serving as a Community Representative and, after a couple of years, taking over as the Chief Financial Officer responsible for the Foundation’s accounting procedures, tax returns, bookkeeping, and donation entries.
New Campaign, Continued Excellence!

Please support the Foundation’s pledge to grant $500,000 this school year.

This year’s Fostering Excellence in Education campaign is the Foundation’s most ambitious fundraising endeavor in its 23-year history, and we’re counting on continued support from our loyal donors to give the campaign an early boost. With
your help, our community will pool its charitable resources to grant $500,000 to the El Segundo Unified School District (ESUSD) during the 2006-2007 academic year.

This extraordinary fundraising goal follows the successful completion of our last Fostering Excellence campaign, which granted $300,000 to the ESUSD in 2005-2006. This year’s grant will invest $500,000 in programs that would not be possible without these supplemental funds. Similar to the last campaign, this grant is earmarked for technology enhancements throughout the ESUSD including equipment ($160,000), support and training ($90,000); writing skills ($50,000); and art and music programs ($125,000) for the District’s 3,200 students. This year funding initiatives also include allocations for elementary physical education ($20,000) and a robotics program ($55,000) for middle and high school students to provide them with advanced instruction in science and engineering and introduce them to college and career options in related fields.
Building a Brighter Tomorrow

Looking for a creative way to support the efforts of the El Segundo Educational Foundation (ESEF) and leave your mark on the city? Plaza El Segundo is "tiling" the way! Join the ESEF and Plaza El Segundo in an easy and fun opportunity to support our local schools. Just purchase and decorate your own commemorative tile to adorn a tiled seat wall in the soon-to-open retail complex at Rosecrans and Sepulveda.

Kids, parents, grandparents, teachers, alumni, and residents are invited to share their artistic talents on 6x6-inch ceramic tiles, available now for a $50 tax deductible donation to the ESEF.
