El Segundo Golfers Support the Foundation
It was a beautiful day for a round of golf in sunny Southern California on Friday, May 5th. More than 120 golfers showed up at the Rio Hondo Golf Course not just for a day on the links but to take part in the 18th Annual Strokes of Genius Golf Tournament to support El Segundo's

public schools. This favorite event among friends of the El Segundo Educational Foundation was supported once again by many corporate and community sponsors, making the day a great success. Competitors included some experienced "pros" who have participated year after year in addition to a few who were newcomers to this event. The Laker Girls were also on hand to entertain.

Golfers arrived with clubs in hand for a chance to win the South Bay Ford sponsored Hole-in-1 Mustang or one of a handful of other awards. Even those who weren't acknowledged for their golf skills and savvy had the opportunity to go home with one of the more than 20 raffle prizes like a personal DVD
player, an iPod, overnight stays at Marriott venues, Dodgers tickets, dinner gift certificates, and golf items.

Proceeds from this year's tournament will be applied to the Foundation's campaign to Foster Excellence in Education the goal being to grant $300,000 to the El Segundo Unified School District to support technology, writing, art, and music programs for the 2005-2006 school year. Thanks to everyone involved for making this a successful event!
