Win a New Car with a Hole-in-One!
On Friday, May 6, 2005, the El Segundo Educational Foundation will hold its 17th Annual Strokes of Genius Golf Tournament at the Rio Hondo Golf Club in Downey. Every year this tournament brings the best mix of corporate sponsors and community supporters together for a fun-filled day of golf and fellowship with proceeds going to El Segundo schools.
"It's amazing how much support this tournament receives from local businesses," said Mike Dugan, ESEF board member and tournament chairman. It's even more exciting when taking into account the support for this tournament from the event title sponsors and those sponsoring golf carts, the after-golf awards banquet, closest to the pin on all par 3's, and a new car to the first person getting a hole-in-one on one of the par 3's, explains Mike. In addition, for $100 anyone can sponsor a hole, which allows for the sponsor's name to be posted on an official tournament sign that will be displayed at the tee box.
At last year's tournament there were more than 100 golfers participating in the event, which has become a favorite among Foundation supporters. Even if you don't make a hole-in-one, everyone has the opportunity to go home a winner by bidding on items at the silent auction to be held at the after-golf awards banquet. At the end of the day, the biggest winners are the El Segundo schools. Proceeds from this year's tournament will be applied to the Foundation's pledge to Bridge the Gap, the campaign to raise $250,000 during the 2004-2005 school year for the El Segundo Unified School District.
Registration for the tournament is now open to individuals and foursomes. Entry fees of $125 per person include box lunch, dinner, and gift bag. Check-in begins at 11:00 a.m. There will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m., and dinner in the clubhouse will begin at 6:00 p.m.
