A New Kind of Donor
Two companies recently provided the El Segundo community a creative way to
support the ESEF. The El Segundo Fish Company and the new Chipotle Mexican Grill, located at the corner of Sepulveda and Grand, both have made generous contributions to the Foundation by inviting the community to participate in their special fundraising events.
Allen Shadgoo, owner of El Segundo Fish Company, coordinated a family-friendly evening in early December to benefit the ESEF. The line that night was out the door and every seat was filled with happy customers enjoying their meals. Kids filled the bounce house that Shadgoo had arranged especially for the evening. The five-hour event was a success, |

and the restaurant donated 100% of its
proceeds ($1,000) to the ESEF. As a result, the
El Segundo Fish Company has become one of
our newest Corporate Partners.
On Thursday, January 17th, Chipotle held its pre-opening fundraising event at its new El Segundo location. An outstanding turnout for the three-hour event raised more than $3,600 for the Foundation, prompting Chipotle’s marketing department to call it the company’s “most successful fundraiser surrounding a grand opening.” A.C. Green, former member of the Los Angeles Lakers championship team (in ’87 and ’88), had dinner with ESEF supporters and signed a basketball which will be auctioned at its Feb. 25th Biennial GIVElSegundo event.

Other recent corporate donors providing community giving opportunities include Whole Foods Market, which donated 5% of one day’s net sales last May yielding a total contribution of $5,632, and 1-800-GOT-JUNK? in their partnership with the City of El Segundo to help citizens responsibly recycle their electronic waste products. At the rate of $3.00 per TV and computer monitor collected, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? donated a total of $1,500 to the Foundation.
Many thanks to these companies for implementing creative fundraising ideas that help raise support for the Foundation’s efforts to Foster Excellence in Education at El Segundo’s public schools. |
