What’s on Your School’s Wish List?
|
Families supporting this year’s Boost Your School Campaign can give themselves a
pat on the back for their participation in Foundation giving this year. The campaign once again garnered support from new donors and increased family participation toward the ESEF’s efforts to Foster Excellence in Education.
Richmond Street Elementary once again closed out the campaign on top with an impressive 68% family participation, earning the school a $2,500 grant to support its wish for funds to implement a special school-wide art project. Center Street Elementary finished out the campaign with 63% of families giving at least $30 each, earning a $2,500 grant to purchase software for their computer lab. The middle school earned a $1,000 grant for |

their wish list items, including: sports equipment for lunch-time check-out
and a document camera for classroom use. For
its efforts in achieving the most donors of any school in the Boost Your School Campaign, the high school earned a $500 grant.
The Boost Campaign, which was extended through February 7th, highlights the importance of every family’s participation in helping El Segundo’s public schools reach their goals. “We want the entire community to take ownership for and pride in the success of our local public schools. A gift to support a well-rounded education for El Segundo’s children is one of the best investments a family can make,” says Christine Sherrill, Chairman of the Foundation’s Community Giving Committee. “We are all in this together. That’s the reason we created the Boost Campaign in the first place, to let everyone know, no matter the size of the gift, that every contribution to the Foundation makes a difference to our kids.”
This year, the Foundation set a goal to grant $450,000 to Foster Excellence in Education district-wide, providing for programs and resources related to improved information technology, literacy, communication skills, critical thinking, problem solving, leadership training, and health and wellness. Our thanks go out to every family that participated in the Boost Your School Campaign. School principals will receive their Boost incentive grants by March so that wish list items may be purchased prior to the end of the school year.
