What's on Your School's Wish List?

The incredible success of last year's Boost Your School Campaign grew the overall pool of ESEF donors by 51% over the previous year and earned all four schools in the El Segundo Unified School District a grant of at least $1,000 to purchase special “wish list” items. This year's Boost Campaign offered a new incentive structure and a similar opportunity for schools to earn Boost grants based on parent/family participation in the campaign. A New Kind of Donor

A handful of local companies have already picked up on a recent trend that has provided the El Segundo Educational Foundation another means of raising funds. These special events, sometimes called community giving days, are attracting customers with the incentive of proceeds being donated to the ESEF. From eating dinner, to recycling used computer parts, to grocery shopping, El Segundo residents are making the most of creative ideas from local businesses that help raise funds for our public schools.

Fostering Excellence in Physical Education

Giving children knowledge and training in physical fitness is an important aspect of a well-rounded education. One component of the Foundation’s Fostering Excellence in Education campaign includes funding for physical education programs at the elementary levels to not only teach children about healthy bodies but also incorporate healthy competition, good sportsmanship, self-esteem, and a positive outlet for their excessive energy.
