DONATIONS IN ACTION
Chapter Presidents Academy
Delta Zeta’s newly elected collegiate chapter presidents took a big leap at the Chapter Presidents Academy in early February. Chapter leaders learned to cultivate Love, generate Energy, inspire Audacity and provide Proof – in other words, how to become an Extreme Leader. This leadership development curriculum was based on the book The Radical Leap by Steve Farber, and provided opportunities for networking with chapters of similar sizes and experiences.
At the end of the Academy, the presidents were asked to write a letter to our Founders. Here’s a sample of their thoughts . . .
Delta Zeta has changed me greatly in the past year. It has moved from a social network of crazy fun to an integral part of my personal growth as a leader and a woman.
I love what Delta Zeta has given me: confidence, knowledge, love, character, and even deeper moral values and principles. It has given me a new family, new goals, and new aspirations.
A specific grant from the Foundation provided for the purchase of a copy of The Radical Leap for every Presidents Academy and Alumnae Academy participant.
Delta Zeta Sponsors House Ear Institute Family Camp Weekend
The Foundation was honored to present a check for $10,000 to the House Ear Institute during the Southern California Lamplighters Flame Fantasy event on Sunday, February 17. The contribution will be used to sponsor House Ear Institute’s 2008 Family Camp Weekend which is designed to ease fear, frustration and confusion frequently experienced by families who are raising a deaf child.
Woman of the Year | Gail Patrick Honorarium
On Saturday, February 9, 2008, Zeta Xi alumnae from the Lenoir Rhyne Chapter gathered at the college for the presentation of the Woman of the Year Award to Jane Carter Handly. The Foundation was proud to be a part of this event, as Ruth Patterson, Foundation President, had the honor of presenting the first, Gail Patrick Honorarium of $5,000 to Jane as our 2007 Woman of the Year.
Jean Templeton, 2005 Woman of the Year and Foundation Trustee, joined Michelle Smith, National President, in presenting Jane with the Woman of the Year pin.
