Tony Smercina

Executive Vice President

Tony is the executive vice president of Pursuant Fundraising Services (formerly Charitable Partners).  Established in 2002 and acquired by The Pursuant Group in 2008, Charitable Partners (now Pursuant Fundraising Services) provides gift solicitation services to universities, hospitals, fraternities and sororities. Its signature Charitable Partners™ Program specializes in acquiring and cultivating mid-level donors through outsourced gift officers who supplement a client’s in-house development team. This approach consistently results in measurable financial success by tapping into an often-overlooked pool of donors who fall in between annual fund donors and those who support institutions through major and planned gifts.

Tony began his nonprofit career in 1989 as executive director of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity in Indianapolis and served in that capacity for eight years. Later, Tony coordinated the Delta Sigma Phi’s Centennial Campaign, which was the organization’s first major campaign. Tony has served on the boards of the North-American Interfraternity Conference Foundation and the Indiana Society of Association Executives. He has maintained the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives since 1992.

He is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and currently resides in Chicago, IL.
