Lead Consultant

Since joining Pursuant, John Derbin has worked as a strategic consultant, program manager and development officer. He has served the Greek and education sectors, serving as a major and planned giving officer, leading campaign Planning Studies and providing campaign counsel, as well as working as program manager for the Charitable Partners Program. Outside of the Greek market, John has served as lead counsel and gift officer for the US Air Force JAG School Foundation and helped to develop and implement Pursuant’s Integrated Strategy Studies program. 

Prior to joining Pursuant Managed Services in October 2006, John was employed in the financial services field working for Morgan Stanley, JP Morgan Chase before establishing his own private wealth management practice. With his financial services background, John brings extensive experience in the areas of estate, trusts and charitable gift planning. 

John has been committed to leadership and volunteerism from an early age, receiving his Eagle Scout award in 1994. While working at Morgan Stanley, John received their National Sales Director Award, given annually to the top 10% of advisors. A native of the Detroit area, John, his wife Elizabeth and their son Nicholas now reside in Grand Rapids, MI. They are very active volunteering locally through their church and John’s Alma Mater, Grand Valley State University.
